The excitement continued on September 2 at the Salina Speedway with another full night of racing featuring the points championship battles running down to their final month at the lightning fast 3/8 mile. At the end a familiar hot shoe from Delphos found his way to Victory Lane for the second time this year.

Joe Cleveland started a distant eighth in the Belleville Motorsports Modified feature but methodically worked his way up to the top five by the halfway point. The last half of the event was a barn burner as Cleveland, Jeremy Massey, Darrick Klima and Danny Morrison Jr. all engaged in a battle for the lead as the laps wound down. Cleveland found enough at the end to power away and record the win followed by Massey, Morrison, and Klima. Cleveland was also the Hard Charger. Brian Knoell and Massey won the heat races earlier in the evening.

Scot Granzella (91E) powers by Scott Claussen (4) and Geoff Jermark (12J) to take the point in the Coors Light Stock Car Feature

The Coors Light Stock Cars produced another repeat winner as well with Scot Granzella picking up the victory. Scott Claussen held an early lead before Granzella got by and cruised to the win. Claussen finished second with Jason Dove third, Levi Wiggans fourth, and Bob Arnold fifth. Granzella was also the Hard Charger after starting fourth. Arnold won the heat race.

Jesse Levin (11J) works past Grady Fielder (41) to take the lead in the Xtreme Motorsports B-Modified Feature

Repeat winners were the theme for the night as Jesse Levin, although a rookie, posted yet another win on the season in the Xtreme Motorsports B-Modified division. Point leader Josh Rice followed in second with Bob Dauer, Seth Schroer, and Matt Miller in the top 5. Dauer made his return to the track pay off as he was the Hard Charger after starting thirteenth. Jerry Lambeth and Schroer won the heat races.

Bud Lee (21) takes the low line for the lead around Jill Roberg (10J) in Auto House Mod Lite action

The seasoned veteran of racing at the Speedway notched yet another win in the Auto House Mod Lite division. Salina’s Bud Lee raced his way to the win after working past rookie Jill Roberg late in the race. Roberg would finish second followed by Tyler Bradshaw, Dustin Forsberg, and Brian Davidson. Forsberg was the Hard Charger after starting ninth. Chris Unruh and Bradshaw won the heat races.

Wayne Juenemann (4) takes the high line en route to a win in 4 wide Accurate Electric Front Wheel Compact Feature action

Wayne Juenemann strengthened his points lead in the Accurate Electric Front Wheel Compacts with another win. Rookie Eric Unruh finished second with Chris Walker third, Brandon Lobdell fourth, and Branston Arnder fifth. Walker was the Hard Charger after starting eighth. Martin tops RPM Speedway sprint car field

HAYS, KS (September 2)—The United Rebel Sprint Series made their final appearance of the season at RPM Speedway in Hays, KS, Friday night, September 2, and Jason ‘The Hit Man’ Martin of Liberal topped a 32-car field to claim the victory.

Kaden Taylor led the first 5 laps before a caution waved when Darren Bowman and Ty Williams tangled on the frontstretch. When the green flag replaced the yellow, Patrick Bourke took advantage and passed Taylor to take the top spot. Bourke continued to lead the field through several more caution periods, including the last yellow on lap 23 for debris. Then as the field returned to green, Martin, who won the first of 2 B-features to qualify for the A-main, continued his pursuit on the high line and got by Bourke to take the lead and hang on the final 2 laps for the victory. ‘The Rain Man’ Ray Seemann got by Bourke to finish in second, with ‘The Natural’ C.J. Johnson and Josh Fairbank rounding out the top five. Heat race winners were Craig Jecha, Judd Sheaffer, Seemann and Taylor. Brian Herbert won the other B-feature.

In the 15-lap IMCA Hobby Stock feature, first heat winner Leon Pfannenstiel of Hays led from green to checkered to claim his first win of the season. Cody Ghumm finished second, followed by heat two victor Jason McIntyre, Garrett Hager and Cody Graham. However McIntyre was disqualified in post-race tech, giving third heat winner Cody Pancake fifth place.

hobby-01

MINNEAPOLIS, KS.   The point leaders in the Coors Lite IMCA Hobby Stocks and Lott Implement IMCA Sport Compacts showed up for the night in different cars due to mechanical issues.  Neither Armstrong or Echevarria looked impressive in their Heat races but when it came down to the business at hand in the Features, they had what was needed to take the checkered flag and set new track records in their respective divisions for season Feature wins.  The new marks were 12 wins for Armstrong and 9 for Echevarria, with Armstrong’s mark also being a new record for all divisions.  Brandon Gray drove his regular car to an impressive win for the new mark in the All-American Towing Mod-Lites.

Another beautiful night for racing despite persistent east winds provided a good showcase for 77 drivers in all six classes to entertain appreciative fans with great racing as local, state, and national point races were impacted by the results of every Feature race.
