HAYS, KS (May 13)—Justin Temeyer of Independence, IA, made the long trip to RPM Speedway in Hays, KS, worthwhile Friday evening, May 13, by winning the Stock Car Shootout and topping a 25 car field to claim the $1,000 winner’s check.

In the Advantage Glass Plus IMCA Stock Car feature, Pat Bedore started on the pole and led the field the first 8 laps in the 25-lap event. But ‘Racin’ Jason Schoenberger made the pass on Bedore on lap 9 and started to pull away for what looked like his third win of the season at Hays.

But the 19th starting Temeyer slowly worked his way forward, and after a caution on lap 17 for a spinning Tyler Ashley, lined up fourth on the restart. Jason Rogers spun on lap 22 and was tagged by Perry Misner and Josh Crombie to bring out the final caution. Schoenberger led the field back to green with Temeyer lined up right behind. Then on lap 24, Temeyer made the winning pass to make his way to victory lane. Schoenberger finished second, with Josh Hudson, Dustin Daniels, and Adam Balthazor rounding out the top five. Heat race winners were Rod Wadel, Schoenberger, and Mike Nichols.

The Teels Trucks IMCA Modified feature saw 3 different leaders in the 20-lap event. ‘Rapid’ Ronnie Hill led the first four laps when Jerry Teel took command on lap 5 and continued to lead at the halfway

Story from Hays Daily News

Six races.

Six wins.

Right now at RPM Speedway in Hays and WaKeeney Speedway, there's no hotter stock car driver than Jason Schoenberger.

The Gorham driver has swept both races in Hays and won all four nights in WaKeeney. Add to that a pair of runner-up finishes at Minneapolis Speedway, and Schoenberger is the man to beat in the stock car class.

Which begs the question: How do you beat Jason Schoenberger?

"With a stick while he sleeps," stock car driver Jason Rogers said after finishing second to him April 29 at RPM.

Rogers was only joking, of course, but so far very few drivers have been able to figure out how to beat the No. 6x car.

"Jason Schoenberger is pretty dang fast," said Bruce Plumisto, who finished third behind Schoenberger on May 1 at WaKeneey Speedway. "He's a guy everyone around here wants to finish in front of."

Everyone wants to finish in front on him, but only a few have.

Schoenberger raced in the stock division from 2001 to 2006, amassing more than 40 feature wins while running nearly 70-plus races a season.

Then he jumped into the modified ranks, where he's had success as well. Before the Super Nationals in Boone, Iowa, last year, Schoenberger finished putting together a stock car.

He took it to the Super Nationals, where he won a stock car title in 2005, and ran it the rest of last season, along with his modified.

"I missed it, and it's a lot different racing,"  Schoenberger said.

MINNEAPOLIS -- A great night for racing on Mother's Day weekend was a treat for all who attended Minneapolis Raceway Saturday night. For the evening, 96 drivers took to the track in six classes to treat the crowd to a great night of racing on a fast, smooth track.

The evening started out with a special surprise for Sport Compact driver, John McNabb of Salina. Before the national anthem, John was brought to the flagstand and surprised with the introduction of his father, George McNabb who has been overseas serving in the U.S. Army for several months. George McNabb arrived home on Saturday, and the unannounced introduction started a joyous family reunion for the Mother's Day celebration by this family. Then a somber tribute was paid to a Tescott fan who met a tragic death this past week, Chris Diedrick. Tescott drivers G.W. Fuller and Marion Woody honored Diedrick by coming on the track with U.S. flags waving to lead the crowd in a moment of silence.

IMCA Sport Compacts

2009 track champion Allen Rice began on the fifth row, but quickly gained the lead 11âÑ2 laps into the 16 lap race.

After a 5 year layoff in action the Salina Speedway roared back to life on Friday May 6, 2011 amidst a huge crowd and a very spirited environment. When the dust settled both new and old faces could be found in Victory Lane.

Danny Morrison Jr. is no stranger to the Speedway as both he and his father have competed for many years. The Minneapolis driver took advantage of an inside row 2 starting position to put himself up front early and never be challenged in the Belleville Motorsports Modified division A Main. The race went nearly caution free as the main battle was for the second thru fifth positions. Jeff Welsh came home in runner-up position, Corey Lagroon in third, and Jerry Phillips in fourth.

Lagroon was also the hard charger of the night, moving up 9 positions from his twelth place starting spot. Joe Cleveland won the B Feature after starting in the back, while John Schwab, Lagroon, and Rodger Peck won the heat races.

The last time a division similar to the Coors Light Stock Cars found themselves at the Speedway a man by the name of Scot Granzella was the champion. Granzella continued that tradition as he found himself in Victory Lane on opening

For awhile, it appeared that Thunder Hill Speedway would go 0-for-April in getting races in.  Track promoter Mike Conkwright said, “I was getting awfully tired of cancelling races due to bad weather.  I was really glad we finally got a good night to race.”  Saturday night, April 30, was indeed a beautiful night to race, and the message appeared to be the 2010 track champions intend to defend.

In fact, three of the four features were won by 2010 track champions who made big statements in their attempts to repeat in 2011.  The exception was Jordan Grabouski of Beatrice, NE, one of the nation’s top IMCA Modified competitors who plans to compete weekly at the Hill.  Joining Grabouski in Victory Lane was Eddie Schwope, Jr. (IMCA Northern SportMods), Eric Weyer (IMCA Stock Cars), and Brian Stich (IMCA Hobby Stocks).  None of the winners had it easy, as they were pressured to the flag.

Grabouski’s way to the flag was nearly blocked by P.J. Conger, of St. Joseph, who raced the Nebraska competitor hard for the entire feature.  Finishing third was Brent Alverson, who led the 2010 points as late as August.  Rounding out the top five were Bryan Rigsby, making his IMCA Modifed debut in strong fashion, and veteran Tom Charles.  Last year’s champion, Jeff Herbers, finished 11th.

In the Northern SportMods, the finish came down to a
